TIME ATTACK RULES - 2019

2019 Time Attack Series Classes:

A: Street Class

B: Track Tuned Class

C: Performance Class

D: Outright Class

E: Unrestricted Class

Time Attack Quickest Lap

General Rules:

  1. Nitrous prohibited.
  2. The same driver must drive the same vehicle for the duration of the series. The combination of vehicle and driver shall collect points.
  3. Modifications must not be made which reclassify the vehicle during the series. Points are not transferable between classes. If the car is modified which changes the classification, it will start again in the new classification with zero points.
  4. Engine capacity shall be taken from the vehicle manufactures technical specification (not the sales brochure). If the engine capacity has been modified, the driver shall declare the new engine capacity for correct classification.
  5. Tyres must be within the bodywork of the vehicle and not protruding.
  6. Vehicle manufacturing definition: Make = Manufacture, Model = Vehicle Type, Release Model = Series release within Model (e.g. Make = Mitsubishi, Model = EVO, Release Model = X) For vehicles without clearly defined release models, these will be as per the manufactures stated generations. Such as WRX first generation 1992-2000, second generation 2000-2007 and their associated model numbers.

Series Rules:

  1. The series will consist of 5 rounds. 4 out of the 5 rounds will count towards the result, with the worst round being dropped.
  2. At least 3 rounds must be completed to qualify for a trophy at the end of the year.
  3. One of the first three rounds must be completed to obtain points in the last two rounds.
  4. Only paid members of Time Attack shall collect points for the series.
  5. At each round the best lap on the nominated track (Sprint or Clubman) will be used to determine points.
  6. Attendance of morning, afternoon or all day can be used to put down lap times that count towards the points for a given round.

Street Class:

  1. The car must be manufactured by a major manufacture. Not a kit car or custom race car.
  2. The car must be road registered. If it is not registered it will be assessed on a case by case basis.
  3. The tyre tread wear rating must be printed on the tyre and be 120 or above.
  4. The tyre must be no wider than 255 and must be printed on the tyre.
  5. Swapping of OEM components between years of the same vehicle model is permitted (e.g. all EVO components from any EVO, is allowed on any other EVO). The fitment of factory options (such as rear wings) that we originally not originally optioned is allowed.
  6. Aftermarket replica copies of factory components are allowed, unless covered by another rule.
  7. The exhaust must be rear exiting with no screamer pipes.
  8. Must have OEM glass. This includes all windows in the car.
  9. Must have OEM doors.
  10. Must have OEM full dash including center console, glove box and lower dash trim.
  11. Additional aftermarket gauges are allowed.
  12. Must have both front seats in the vehicle (aftermarket seats are allowed).
  13. Must not have in cabin adjustable brake bias or aftermarket pedal box.
  14. Must have the engine as fitted by the manufacture, with the same capacity and configuration. No engine conversions are allowed unless the engine is available in the same make and model (e.g. Only Honda Civic engines can be used in a Honda Civic) and has the same capacity and configuration as the original engine. (Cylinder oversize bore of up to 1mm allowed for engine rebuilding).
  15. Adding forced induction to a naturally aspirated engine is not allowed.
  16. Changing the boost level or turbo/super charger is allowed.
  17. The turbo must remain in the original location with internal waste gate.
  18. Dry sump conversions are not allowed. The fitment of an Accusump is permitted.
  19. The fitment of a roll cage is permitted.
  20. Removal of the back seats is permitted to allow for the fitment of a roll cage or harness bar.
  21. Must have full interior in the car, although Interior trim and carpet may be modified or removed to permit fitment of a roll cage.
  22. Boot liner can be removed.
  23. No wide body kits, or changes to the shape of the vehicle allowed.
  24. No increased track allowed. Wheel spacers are not allowed. Wheel offset is allowed where the wheel and tyre remains within the bodywork.
  25. No aftermarket aerodynamic aids such as rear wings, splitters and diffusers. Basic air dams and small canards if part of a body kit molding is acceptable.
  26. Bonnet vents for engine cooling are allowed.
  27. No aftermarket sequential shifters, short shifters are acceptable.
  28. No aftermarket sequential race gear boxes allowed.
  29. Stock standard brake calipers front and rear.
  30. Two-piece brake rotors are allowed.
  31. Fitment of passive brake cooling ducts is permitted.
  32. Street spec coil over suspension is allowed including units with single damping adjustment.
  33. Race spec coil over suspension with remote reservoirs and / or independent bump-rebound adjustable shock absorbers are not allowed.
  34. Camber, castor, toe adjustment and control arms is allowed.
  35. Springs can be changed.
  36. The lowest part of the body may be no lower than 80mm from the ground.
  37. Manufacture super cars shall be moved into performance class; such as Nissan R35 GTR, Porsche 911. These will be on a case by case basis.

Track Tuned Class:

  1. The car must be manufactured by a major manufacture. Not a kit car or custom race car.
  2. The tyre tread wear rating must be printed on the tyre and be 120 or above.
  3. The tyre must be no wider than 265 AWD and 295 for 2WD and must be printed on the tyre.
  4. Swapping of OEM components between years of the same vehicle model is permitted (e.g. all EVO components from any EVO, is allowed on any other EVO). The fitment of factory options (such as rear wings) that we originally not originally optioned is allowed.
  5. Aftermarket replica copies of factory components are allowed, unless covered by another rule.
  6. The exhaust must be rear exiting with no screamer pipes allowed.
  7. Must have OEM glass. This includes all windows in the car.
  8. Must have OEM doors.
  9. Must have OEM full dash including center console, glove box and lower dash trim.
  10. Additional aftermarket gauges are allowed.
  11. Aftermarket front seats are allowed. Removal of the passenger seat and rear seats is allowed.
  12. Must not have in cabin adjustable brake bias or aftermarket pedal box.
  13. Engine conversions are allowed. The new engine must have the same number of cylinders as per the original engine.
  14. Adding forced induction to a naturally aspirated engine is allowed.
  15. Changing the boost level or turbo/super charger is allowed.
  16. High mount turbo conversions are allowed.
  17. External turbo waste gates are permitted when plumbed back into the exhaust.
  18. Dry sump conversions are allowed. The fitment of an Accusump is permitted.
  19. Roll cages are permitted.
  20. Boot liner can be removed.
  21. Removal of the back seats is permitted.
  22. Interior of the car can be stripped.
  23. Wide body guards are allowed for bigger tyres and/or brakes, as long as the hubs remain in the original position.
  24. Wheel spacers of up to 30mm are allowed.
  25. No aftermarket sequential shifters, short shifters are acceptable.
  26. Brake caliper upgrades are allowed.
  27. Two-piece brake rotors are allowed.
  28. Fitment of passive brake cooling ducts is permitted.
  29. No aftermarket sequential race gear boxes allowed.
  30. Camber, castor, toe adjustment and control arms is allowed.
  31. Fully adjustable shock absorbers and coil overs are allowed.
  32. Springs can be changed.
  33. Manufacture super cars shall be moved into performance class; such as Nissan R35 GTR, Porsche 911. These will be on a case by case basis.
  34. Basic aerodynamic aids must adhere to the following rules:
    1. Bonnet vents for engine cooling are allowed.
    2. Basic air dams are allowed.
    3. Dual element rear wings are allowed. Rear wings may be no wider than the widest point of the OEM body (side mirrors excluded).
    4. The highest part of the rear wing must be located no higher than the highest part of the OEM roofline. Except in the case of a hatchback where the wing can be no higher than 150mm from the highest point of the wing to the roofline and must be on the rear portion of the roof.
    5. The rear most edge of the rear wing may be located no further back than the rear most part of the OEM vehicle (exhaust excluded).
    6. Front splitters/under-trays if fitted may not project more than 50mm forward of the OEM bodywork and no further back than the center line of the front axle.
    7. A ground clearance of 80mm between the wheel base.
    8. Front canards may extend no further than 50mm from the maximum width of the OEM bodywork.
    9. Rear diffusers are permitted but must not start further forward than the rear axle center line and cannot got wider or further back than the OEM bodywork. The floor pan must not be cut away to fit the diffuser.

Performance Class:

  1. The car must be manufactured by a major manufacture. Not a kit car or custom race car.
  2. The tyres must be Treaded R Compound Semi Slicks. Grooved semi slicks, grooved slicks or full slicks are not permitted.
  3. The exhaust can exit from the side or the rear. Screamer pipes are allowed.
  4. Must have OEM front window glass, all other windows must be installed but can be non-glass.
  5. Must have OEM doors. The door trims and inner door skins can be removed. The structure must remain.
  6. Aftermarket front seats are allowed. Removal of the passenger seat and rear seats is allowed.
  7. Must have basic dash in place. Full aftermarket instruments allowed.
  8. Must have basic interior in the front half of the cabin (removal of carpet, stereo etc and liner allowed).
  9. In-cabin adjustable brake bias is allowed. Aftermarket pedal boxes are allowed. Balance bars are allowed on the pedal box.
  10. Wide body guards are allowed for wider tyres and bigger brakes, as long as the hubs remain in the original position.
  11. No modification to the structure of the vehicle such as removal of sections of metal from the chassis to reduce weight or for aerodynamic advantage. Removal of front members to fit larger intercoolers and radiators is allowed.
  12. Must have the same suspension geometry as the original manufactured car. Pick up points cannot be moved. Adjustable suspension components are allowed.
  13. Basic aerodynamic aids must adhere to the following rules:
    1. Basic air dams are allowed.
    2. Dual element rear wings are allowed.
    3. Rear wings may be no wider than 100mm per side wider than the widest point of the OEM body (side mirrors excluded).
    4. The highest part of the rear wing must be located no higher than 250mm higher than the highest part of the OEM roofline.
    5. The rear most edge of the rear wing may be located no further back 100mm rearward of the rear most part of the OEM vehicle (exhaust excluded).
    6. Front splitters/under-trays if fitted may project no farther forward than 150mm beyond the adjacent bodywork or the vertical projection of the OEM bodywork and no further back than the front axle centerline of the vehicle.
    7. The lowest part of the front splitter/under-tray may be no lower than 75mm from the ground.
    8. Front canards may extend no further than 100mm from adjacent bodywork or beyond the vertical projection of the OEM body work.
    9. Rear diffusers are permitted provided: a) they do not extend beyond the tip of the exhaust or b) they are completely contained within the vertical projection of the original vehicle.

Outright Class:

  1. The car must be manufactured by a major manufacture. Not a kit car or custom race car.
  2. The tyres must be Treaded R Compound Semi Slicks. Grooved semi slicks or slicks are not permitted. See the tyre register for clarification.
  3. The car must still use factory chassis, partial tube frames allowed.

Unrestricted Class:

  1. This class is unrestricted, except as stated in the general Rules.
  2. Any tyres are allowed including full slicks.

Points Allocation:

1st = 30 points, 2nd = 25 points, 3rd = 22 points, 4th = 20 points, 5th = 19 points, 6th = 18 points, 7th = 17 points, 8th = 16 points, 9th = 15 points, 10th = 14 points, 11th = 13 points, 12th = 12 points, 13th = 11 points, 14th = 10 points, 15th = 9 points, 16th = 8 points, 17th = 7 points, 18th = 6 points, 19th = 5 points, 20th = 4 points

Rulings and Decisions:

  1. If you are unsure of something, check in advance.
  2. All protests must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of the completion of an event.
  3. The final classification of all cars will be at the discretion of the check in crew. No discussion will be entered.
  4. The organiser's decision shall be final. No dispute shall be entered.
  5. Time Attack management reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone, or ask anyone to leave an event without prior notice.
